The law of the lid

John Maxwell begins with "why should I grow as a leader?"  In the first part of his book under the development of a leader.  He talks about the higher the leadership the higher the effectiveness.  He describes "the law of the lid" which states that if ones leadership ability is a 4 then your effectiveness can only be a 3.

"Leadership ability is the lid that determines a person's level of effectiveness.  The lower an individual's ability to lead, the lower the lid of his potential."

He talks about the McDonald's brothers who started the "McDonalds" and how they were successful but not until their partnership with Ray Kroc did McDonalds really grow.

It is a neat story and your can read more in John Maxwells Book "leadership 101"

So therefor the value of leadership is worth the time to develop.   "To reach the highest level of effectiveness, you have to raise the lid of leadership ability."

You can raise the lid of leadership on your teams - you must develop it continually - one day at a time.
